CONSULTANCY PROCESS
An experienced consultant should routinely check, inspect, and clean the system/s, which is why we provide monthly, quarterly, six-monthly and yearly monitoring for Legionella.
Legionella Control
Legionella, also known as Legionnaires’ disease, is a severe form of lung inflammation that can lead to pneumonia; a few Legionella bacteria are naturally found in lakes, groundwater, and rivers, generally harmless.
Legionella bacteria can rapidly grow and, over time, increase the risk of Legionella exposure in hot and cold-water systems; this can be due to low water flow and rust, eventually causing stagnate water within the water systems.
To prevent and continually monitor the risk, a qualified consultant should routinely check, inspect, and clean the system/s, which is why we provide monthly, quarterly, six-monthly and yearly monitoring for legionella bacteria.
Legionella Risk Assessment
The technicians at Oscar Compliance Solutions are highly qualified and experienced in delivering Legionella risk assessments to ensure that your business complies with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) standards.
Our comprehensive Legionella risk assessments include identifying any potential risks to your workforce, as well as proposing suitable methods for prevention, control, monitoring, inspection, and ongoing maintenance of your water systems. Contact us today to arrange a free quote.
Water Sampling
Legionella is a risk for almost all hot and cold-water systems found within buildings; an outbreak can occur when water in plumbing lines or mechanical equipment is not tested frequently or adequately.
Any water system could be a source for Legionella growth. Still, risks increase if your water system is between 20ºC to 45ºC, produces breathable droplets, stores or recirculates water, and likely contains nutrients for the growth of organisms.
Employers’ legal duty is to understand the health risks associated with Legionella and take adequate measures to prevent outbreaks, such as microbiological sampling and Legionella testing.
Our health and safety experts at Oscar Compliance have many years of experience in water sampling and conducting tests for different types of microbiological activity; contact our team to arrange a free quote.
Legionella Awareness Training
A root cause of outbreaks is generally down to a lack of awareness of the risks and how to control them, which is why we cover all aspects of Legionella awareness and control to ensure your business is compliant with all regulations.
Get in touch to schedule onsite training with an expert and gain a more vital understanding of what you can do to prevent a Legionella outbreak and how Legionella bacteria can breed, and the disease it can cause.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
A low amount of Legionella bacteria lives in water, for example, in ponds, lakes, rivers, and groundwater, where it does not usually cause any harm. However, outbreaks can occur from purpose-built water systems where temperatures are warm enough to encourage the growth of bacteria. E.g., condensers, cooling towers, spa pools, taps, and showers.
There are approximately 200-250 cases reported each year in England and Wales.
Suppose you are an employer or the person in charge of premises (a landlord) and you have a water system at your premises. In that case, you must take necessary measures to identify and remove or reduce the risk of exposure to Legionella.
